The Sierra Northern Railway is a short-line railroad located in Northern California, USA. It operates on tracks that were originally built by the Southern Pacific Railroad.
Sierra Northern Railway was created in 2003 as a subsidiary of Sierra Railroad Company, a long standing railroad operator that was incorporated in 1897. The SNR serves the agricultural and lumber industries, as well as a variety of other customers.
The railroad operates over 100 miles of track between Woodland and Dorris in California's Central Valley and Siskiyou County. The SNR connects with other railroads such as Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe. The company's rolling stock includes locomotives, boxcars, flatcars, and tank cars.
